Personal Phage Success Stories-Game Changers for Antibiotic Resistance

As Patients begin to share personal success stories using Phage Therapy to cure their bacterial Superinfections which failed to respond to traditional antibiotics, the world is taking notice and a global resurgence in Phage Therapy is underway.

Founder's Story

How Phage Therapy Became My Last Hope

After battling an E. coli with ESBL (Extended-spectrum beta-lactamases) infection of the prostate, I realized that antibiotics would never eradicate my infection. Further complicating my condition was the formation of biofilm, a gelatinase goo surrounding the prostate which bacteria create to protect themselves, making it even more difficult for antibiotics to reach the site of infection.

After more than two years of failing antibiotic therapy and declining health where daily fever spikes of 103/104 were common, I decided I needed to take matters into my own hands. Physicians in Western medicine can only prescribe the use of antibiotics to treat infection. Based on countless hours of research, I understood Phage Therapy to be a beacon of hope in this endless nightmare of constant antibiotic use that was failing me.

Sharing Stories of Hope When Antibiotics Fail

Our Mission
FDA

Our mission is to share personal stories of patients who were failed by antibiotics and who turned to Phage Therapy for a cure. In telling these stories, we hope to move legislative bodies, medical training schools and the FDA to bring Phage Therapy to use with the general public more quickly for those who are suffering and dying now.

The FDA regulates all aspects of producing medications and assuring their effectiveness, safety, quality and administration. Currently, The FDA only permits the use of Phage Therapy in extreme circumstances and after all other options have been tried. This is called compassionate use. Usually, the patient is near death and administration of Phage Therapy at this point may be futile as the patient is too far gone to recover.

What is Phage Therapy?

Phage Therapy utilizes naturally occurring friendly viruses that attach themselves to bacterial cell walls. Once they are securely attached, they use a tail like structure that penetrates the bacterial wall, and the Phage injects its DNA into the bacterial cell. From there, the Phage uses the bacterial cell to replicate, producing thousands of phages inside the bacterial cell.

When the bacterial cell can hold no more phage replicants, the cell wall bursts open releasing thousands more phages to go out and do the same thing all over again destroying each bacterial cell they meet. Ultimately, Phage Therapy utilizes these friendly viruses to eradicate bacterial infections.

Antibiotics

Antibiotics are fast acting strong medications that inhibit the replication of bacterial cells. Unlike friendly Phage Viruses that target specific bacterium, antibiotics are less selective thus causing many side effects when used. Phage Viruses have no known side effects which makes them highly desirable from a patient perspective.
